Despite an almost 50-ft. free fall from competitor Jake Brown, Bob Burnquist won gold in Skateboard Big Air in the opening night of the X Games on Thursday, scoring 95.6 on the final run of the competition.
We've seen it time and time again, every few years the Cubs do something nice to make fans all across America swoon, not to mention dream that this might finally be the year that the sorriest franchse in baseball makes it to the World Series. Now here it is, early August and the Cubbies are in first place and the script is already set to be written again. But, of course, this being the Cubs you just know that they'll disappoint--but at least all the Cubs buzz makes this weekend's series with the team with the BEST record in the National League more interesting. Hopefully, the Mets can take two-out-of-three and give Cubs fans yet another dose of reality.
Michael Strahan has always been a big, overrated, gap-toothed phony and you just know that this "possible retirement" talk is nothing but Strahan's attempt to make as much loot as he can after his dick got him in so much trouble with his ex-wife. Bottom line, the Giants don't need Strahan anyway, because he's never been about winning so much as he is about himself. So if he's serious about "retiring" (which he ain't), the Giants have every right to call his bluff.
Gotta' figure that there are a lot of jealous GM's out there because only two former teammates (who happen to be members of Boston's last championship team) could've pulled off a blockbuster deal like this. Give credit to Garnett too for never complaining about the lack of talent surrounding him all those years in Minnesota, he's long deserved a real shot at a championship and now he'll get it.
Bill Walsh, Bill Parcells and Joe Gibbs will always be associated together. And they were each great coaches who coached great teams that made me fall in love with football.
Neion Deion goes out of his way to defend Michael Vick, even comparing watching dogs killing each other for sport to wanting to have the "biggest chains". I loved Deion as a player, but as a commentator he's as dumb as a rock.
You just knew all that "retirement" talk was just that . . . talk. But personally I'd much rather see Floyd "comeback" against Miguel Cotto rather than Ricky Hatton.
From his first practice with the Chicago Bears, Thomas Jones looked like a star. Unlike his days with the Cardinals, Jones was no-nonsense. He took the handoff, made one cut and moved with great speed. The Jets needed a runner like that. Last season, it was a weekly adventure figuring out who was going to be the Jets' lead back for any given game. Now, Jones can give Chad Pennington a dependable running attack and the potential of a 100-yard game on any given Sunday. How he fits into the offense will be the key to the Jets' season.
Well, she has average looks at best, but doesn't mean that her bod isn't dope. Plus, Playboy is a master at airbrushing so she should be fine. Can't blame her for banking in on her 15 minutes either.
Lawrence Frank has had a worse record running the New Jersey Nets than his predecessor Byron Scott. Plus, while Scott led his team to a couple of Eastern Conference championships, the Nets haven’t sniffed the NBA Finals under Frank (who arguably has worked with better talent than Scott). Yet, Scott was fired midway through his third season with the Nets, while today we find out that Frank, about to enter his 4th season, has gotten an extension. Doesn’t make any sense to me.
Or stick to dancing or something. Seriously, I believe in "innocent till proven guilty" as much as the next guy, but the idea that the Feds are targeting Michael Vick is just asinine. If he actually took part in betting on dogfighting is one thing, but Vick had to know dogs were daily being killed for money in the house HE bought and at worst, he ignored it. I'm all for letting the criminal justice system play out in this case, but now is not the time to be defending Michael Vick.
I don't think that there will be a knockout, but Winky might be wishing that Bernard just put him away early after the punishment he's gonna' receive tonight.
