You Can Call Him Chad Javon Ocho Cinco Now

Some people will do anything for attention and the man formerly known as Chad Johnson is certainly one if them:

Maybe receiver Chad Johnson can go by the name that his head coach hates.

The Cincinnati Bengals receiver has legally changed his name to Chad Javon Ocho Cinco in Broward County, Fla., a switch that became official this week, according to several media reports. Johnson, who lives in Miami, didn’t return a message left on his cell phone Friday night.

“It’s something I don’t think anyone has ever done before,” he told the team’s Web site. “Have I ever had a reason for why I do what I do? I’m having fun.”

Two years ago, Johnson gave himself the moniker—a reference in Spanish to his No. 85—and put it on the back of his uniform before a game. Quarterback Carson Palmer ripped it off before the kickoff. After the season, coach Marvin Lewis—who dislikes Johnson’s attention-getting stunts—referred to the receiver as “Ocho Psycho.”

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said the Bengals had no comment on the matter.

Personally, I like "Ocho Psycho" a lot better.

Red Sox Should've Suspended Manny Ramirez

The national media and baseball fans in general, know that Manny Ramirez has a reputation for being a goofball. But "Manny being Manny" is no excuse for pushing a grown man in his 60's to the ground, much less over some baseball tickets:

Manny Ramirez said he patched things up with a Boston Red Sox employee he reportedly shoved to the floor during an argument, and the club said the matter is over.

The Providence Journal reported Monday that Ramirez pushed traveling secretary Jack McCormick in the visitors' clubhouse Saturday in Houston after McCormick told Ramirez that he might not be able to come up with the 16 tickets the player requested for that night's game.

"Whatever happens in the clubhouse stays in the clubhouse," Ramirez said Monday. "I talked to him and everything is fine. He's going to continue being my friend. It's over with."

The Red Sox should've sent a message to Ramirez and suspended him for at least a game.

Union To File Grievance On Astros Cutting Chacon

This is why you can't take MLB's players union seriously. Shawn Chacon is an insubordinate loose cannon who grabbed his former GM around the neck, twice pushed him to the ground and probably would've done worse if teammates hadn't stepped him. He even admitted it to the media so there's just no defending this guy. I'm not saying that he should never play again, but he should be suspended with no pay for the rest of the year, at least.

Jim Leyritz Charged With DUI Homicide

Damn, this is really messed up:

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -Former Major League Baseball player Jim Leyritz was arrested Friday on charges of driving under the influence and killing another driver after his vehicle crashed into hers.

Leyritz, who turned 44 on Thursday, faces charges of DUI manslaughter and DUI property damage, said Detective Kathy Collins, Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman.

He posted the $11,000 bond and was released from the Broward County jail. It could not be determined whether Leyritz had an attorney.
