It's amazing what happens to a boxer who was once on top of the world when he loses for the first time, suddenly he's just another fighter. But from what I've read Cotto fought a great fight, just got beat by a better and more determined fighter in Antonio Margarito, at least Cotto is making it clear that he'd like another shot at the first man to ever beat him.
As great and clever a fighter as Bernard Hopkins is, he's never been much of an offensive fighter. Sure, he put on "a clinic", but when Bernard had his best chance to take Calzaghe out in the 1st (after dropping him) he never went for the kill. Plus, throughout the fight Calzaghe was always the aggressor, he hit Hopkins more than he's ever been hit before all those reasons are why in the end, the "white boy" deserved the victory.
The Nigerian Mightmare proves his mettle against Oleg Maskaev, but needs to beat both Klitschko's first before he can declare himself Wlade true heavyweight champion.
Ricky Hatton's going to definitely put up a good fight, but something tells me that Floyd is so pumped to prove that he's the best pound-for-pound, that there's a good chance he's gonna lay the Britain out on the canvas for the night.
Nothing against Miguel Cotto who I like and always puts up a great fight no matter who he's facing, but if there's anyone who can stand toe-to-toe with anybody it's Shane Mosley. And he has the knockout power to make sure Cotto doesn't get up. Tonight we'll see.
I've always liked Evander and admired his courage, but he's about to be 45 and just loss another attempt to get the heavyweight title back. Now can somebody please knock some common sense in him and make Evander put the gloves down for good, before something happens in the ring that seriously damages his health?
I don't think that there will be a knockout, but Winky might be wishing that Bernard just put him away early after the punishment he's gonna' receive tonight.
Gatti will always be known as a true warrior with heart and his fights were always exciting, but when you get knocked out by a "Contender", you should know that it's time to hang up the gloves for good.
From everything I've read it was a great fight and even Cotto admitted afterwards that "Zab came to win". Fights like theis are what boxing needs as opposed to anything involving the insufferable Shannon Briggs. Of course, everyone including myself, would love to see Cotto versus Mayweather. One can only hope.
