I don't care how close he got this time because Jim Rice should've gotten in the Hall of Fame a long time ago--his numbers speak for themselves. It's amazing that these writers still hold grudges for Rice not being a "nice guy" while he played (yet Steve Carlton and Ty Cobb are in the Hall). And no disrespect to Goose Gossage for getting in today, but it's hard to get out my head how much George Brett owned him in the big spot.
