FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -Former Major League Baseball player Jim Leyritz was arrested Friday on charges of driving under the influence and killing another driver after his vehicle crashed into hers.
Leyritz, who turned 44 on Thursday, faces charges of DUI manslaughter and DUI property damage, said Detective Kathy Collins, Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman.
He posted the $11,000 bond and was released from the Broward County jail. It could not be determined whether Leyritz had an attorney.

I'm a Jets fan so I know I'm biased, but since I don't believe that the Giants are going far in the playoffs anyway (no way they beat Tampa on the road next week) and since professional athletes are naturally competitive anyway, Tom Coughlin should play his starters throughout the Patriots game this Saturday. Of course, I should also admit that since I hate the Pats, I've love to see them lose and not go 16-0 regardless of how they do in the playoffs.

It's been 3 weeks since his father's death and Stephon Marbury has barely played because is still "recovering", all the while collecting $150,000+ paychecks for each game missed. And while "recovering" he still had the time to file a grievance over the fine the Knicks gave him for missing a game in Phoenix last month. He's easily the worse mistake has made Isiah Thomas during his run as Knicks GM. James Dolan needs to eat the money and let Marbury go.

And DJ's right and so is Clemens lawyer for getting in the ass of all the pundits who incorrectly predicted that Jason Grimsley would be pulling Clemens steroid card. Not that all of this means that Roger's innocent.

I was hoping that Chad Pennington would get to play in this game and the Jets certainly had their chances (tho' I can't forgive Mangini going for it on 4th-and-2 in the 1st quarter), but hey it wasn't meant to be.

Of all the people on the doping list Chuck Knoblauch surprised me the most (ok, well Andy Pettitte's name did too but I guess that's what you from hanging around Roger Clemens so much). I mean, I can't even recall Knoblaugh ever hitting for any decent amount of power or having one those "career" seasons most of the littler-known steroids users have (like Brady Anderson). But then I guess steroids does effect more than just power after all.

Now that the 'roids list is out, will the white-run sports media go after Roger Clemens with the same passion they have Barry Bonds? I doubt it.

As much as I don't think he will be, as a Mets fan I would very hurt if it comes out that Mike Piazza did steroids when those names are released tomorrow.

Damn, that was quick. I'm telling you hiring these big name college coaches to run an NFL squad is enough of a risk that I wouldn't take it if I were an NFL GM.

Damn, he got off pretty light and considering he's already served some time Michael could be out like mid-'09 with good behavior. Somebody upstairs must be looking out.

Again, Kellen Clemens is NOT the answer (and damn if those weren't a LOT of empty seats at the Meadowlands yesterday). BTW, I know it won't happen, but wouldn't it be great if Eric Mangini inserted Chad Pennington back in as QB against New England for next week? Regardless, while the Jets won't win, I still think that they'll give the Pats a good game despite what all the so-called "experts" think.

Ricky Hatton's going to definitely put up a good fight, but something tells me that Floyd is so pumped to prove that he's the best pound-for-pound, that there's a good chance he's gonna lay the Britain out on the canvas for the night.

Tiger's wife gets a much-deserved win in a court case and donates all her winnings to charity.

That can be the only conclusion a true Mets fan can come to if you buy his crazy idea that the Mets don't need pitching, better yet a top-notch starter. And no, overweight mediocrity like Livian Hernandez and/or Bartolo Colon are not the answers. Dan Haren or Erik Bedard or even Dontrell Willis are, and Omar Minaya needs do to everything he can to acquire one of them what wit the Twins asking for the moon for Johan Santana. Mets fans like myself are still suffering from the worse collapse in baseball history. We lost 13 wins in Tommy Glavine. We lost the guts of the team in Paul Lo Duca. We lost great potential in Lastings Milledge. Unless the Wilpons are holding him back, Omar needs to do what he can to balance all of that.

Honestly, an upset win over a not-so-good New Jersey squad could really help save the Knicks season, only because Jason Kidd and the Nets have had their number for so long now, Marbury is out and a win could prove what I've been saying all along: its Marbury that needs to go, not Isiah Thomas.

Unbelievable, that Tigers line-up is going to be really scary now and that rotation is not going to be too shaby either. All I know is that if Omar Minaya doesn't come away with a top-notch starter from winter meetings I'm going to be really upset.

Hey, not to say it was about money, but you'd have to be an idiot or super-mega-rich to just leave $16million on the table. Now maybe the Yankees can put him on the Roger Clemens Family Plan so Andy can concentrate on pitching instead of whining about missing his family during the season.

What's funny about this game was all the so-called "experts" in the media predicting that this would be the day that the Dolphins would get their first win of the year. I mean, even a Jets fan like myself can admit when it team sucks as they have this season, but the 2007 Miami Dolphins would have a hard time getting past Ohio State--they're THAT bad.

It's still early, but I'm really feeling this year's Tar Heels squad. Could another championship for Roy Williams be on the horizon? So far, very good.
