Finally!!! I don't care how much money Fred Wilpon has to pull out of his pocket, he just better get this deal done. After what Mets fans like me endured last season, we all deserve to see Johan Santana on Opening Day.
And proves once again that he is, by far, the best in his sport. Sorry, but Roger Federer needs to win a Grand Slam first before you can say he's on the same level as Tiger.
I agree with Tim Layden and refuse to believe that Randy Moss' first controversy of the season will do anything to hold the Patriots back. Only an injury to Tom Brady can do that.
I'm all for professional athletes showing emotion, but T.O. getting all tearful for Tony Romo is kind of pathetic. C'mon Terrell, y'all had no business losing this game and whether or not it had anything to do with his play, your QB only created a distraction for himself by going to Mexico with Jessica Simpson last week.
Can't believe that there was even any lollygagging about her doing time. When you cheat your sport and consistently lie to the feds, you deserve to go to jail. Her children will survive without her and she probably won't have to do the whole 6 months anyway.
And hey, why not? He's had a pretty decent year, led his team to the playoffs and who knows, maybe even the Super Bowl? At least this time around he puts the retirement talk away early.
I don't care how close he got this time because Jim Rice should've gotten in the Hall of Fame a long time ago--his numbers speak for themselves. It's amazing that these writers still hold grudges for Rice not being a "nice guy" while he played (yet Steve Carlton and Ty Cobb are in the Hall). And no disrespect to Goose Gossage for getting in today, but it's hard to get out my head how much George Brett owned him in the big spot.
If Roger Clemens really has never done steroids than he's doing the right thing by choosing to talk to Congress and filing a defamation suit against the trainer who said he did. However, it's still hard to get past the fact that Andy Pettitte proved Brian McNamee right and that Clemens had so many great years after Boston thought he was done some years ago and at such an older age. That said as of now I'm 50/50 that Clemens did the juice.
I'm strictly amazed that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers let the New York Giants come into their house and totally manhandle them like they did today. And was that really Eli Manning who leading all those point scoring drives and playing like a seasoned vet? The Giants are now 8-1 on the road this season and put to rest all the idiots who said that Tom Coughlin shouldn't have played his starters throughout the game against New England last week. Next up: the Cowboys, who beat the Jints twice during the regular season, but have been playing like the Jets of late. Should be a good game, but I say Tony Romo and company find a way to squeak it out.
No surprise here, but I'm still counting on the Jaguars or the defending champion Colts to take out the Pats in the playoffs. My thought being that no one from the NFC would have a shot of upsetting New England in the Super Bowl.
Funny, when you think that not too long ago everyone (including Martz) thought he was a genius. It's a long fall from grace when the hapless Detroit Lions no longer want your services.
